PLOT

Self absorbed actress Madeline Ashton steals the fiance of book writer Helen Sharp. The two frenemies encounter a magic potion that gives women timeless beauty and youthful looks. Both Madeline and Ashton, hoping to one up each other, drink the potion and end up being their most beautiful and glowing selves. The only side effect is that they become clinically dead and feel no pain, even when disfigured. CREATIVE TEAM

The musical features a highly talented creative team that brought this amazing epic from film to the stage. The musical’s music and lyrics were composed by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey with choreography and direction by Christopher Gatteli and musical supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell. This production requires a lot of glitz and glam, that’s why the amazing prowess of costume designer Paul Tazewell and hair and wig designer Charles G. Lapointe was brought in. The production provides an incredible setting, including the large stairwell by scenic designer Derek McLane. Meanwhile, the show is given much depth through the work of sound designer Peter Hylenski and lighting designer Justin Townsend. Lastly, you can’t have a fight scene without a fight director! Death Becomes Her received a ton of accolades upon its Broadway premier in 2024. The musical scored the Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical out of a staggering nine nominations. Other accolades include four Drama League Award nominations, 12 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, a Dorian Award nomination, and Grammy nomination for Best Muusical Theater Album.
